Who doesn’t love an ice cold beer in the summer?

While there are plenty of beer gardens to choose from, not all were created equal — or for the same crowds! Here are three very different beer gardens to check out this summer in Washington, D.C.

Dacha Beer Garden

1600 7th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20001

Dacha Beer Garden is the trendy D.C. bar you want to make sure you’re seen at. It operates as a pop-up, “popping up” only in the spring and summer months, and operating entirely outdoors. Here, you’ll find everyone from young professionals, to dating couples, to groups of friends. Long, wooden communal tables make the entire atmosphere friendly. Twinkling lights strung all around the fence, and a giant, colorful mural of Ann Tayor on the back wall add character.

This is the place to look your “D.C. best,” sipping on some beer, networking, maybe even bringing your dog with you for show. The one thing to note is that Dacha gets super-busy super-quickly, so plan to come early or wait in line.

Sauf Haus Bier Hall

1216 18th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20036

Sauf Haus Bier Hall is located in the trendy part of Dupont Circle and is surrounded by dance clubs and bars. 18th Street in Dupont is often packed with people going out on the town, and Sauf Haus is no different. Come here to enjoy the three levels of bar space, including a large rooftop. In the summer, the rooftop bar is busy day and night, playing live music, hosting sporting watch parties, and the like. If you’re looking to hang out with your friends, meet new people, and get in the party mood, this is the right spot for you.

Garden District

1801 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20009

Garden District is the perfect people-watching beer garden. Come to this place if you’re looking to hang out on a large front patio, try out new brews, and spend quality, intimate time with your friends. It’s the perfect 14th Street neighborhood spot. The inside is actually very small, without a lot of seating, so make sure you stop by on a nice, warm day to sit outside.
