The Washington Wizards are set up to be one of the best tickets in the NBA.

The Washington Wizards have cemented a fan base and are ready for another postseason run in 2018-19, as they look to make their fifth playoff appearance in six years. Whether you’re a diehard fan or a new one, you need to make plans to check out Wizards basketball at Capital One Arena this season.

So what makes this team so exhilarating? Five words: John Wall and Bradley Beal.

When these two are on the same court, they’re electric. They make great play after great play, practically a human highlight reel. Wall has been an All-Star for the last five years, earning third team All-NBA honors in 2016-17. He is quick and loves to be ostentatious, making him the team’s biggest attraction. Beal, known for his ability to drain threes, averaged a career-high 23.1 points per game in 2016-17 and made his first All-Star team in 2017-18.

What’s the best part about going to your favorite sports team’s home games? Watching them win! After a streak of not making the playoffs for five straight years, our Wizards have made the postseason in four out of the last five. They win a good amount of games each year, averaging over 44 wins each of the last five seasons. Going into this season, the Wizards are considered by many to be one of the most talented teams in the Eastern Conference.

New to the Wizards this year is veteran big-man Dwight Howard. Howard, who started his career with the Orlando Magic, has become a frequent flyer — the Wizards are his fourth team in the last four seasons. He provides a veteran presence and should be the starting center when the season begins on Thursday, October 18.

One of the coolest parts about going to a Wizards game is the Capital One Arena — right in the heart of Washington D.C.! The nearby neighborhoods of Penn Quarter and Chinatown are two of the most energetic and fast-paced regions in the city, with a multitude of restaurants and bars available.

There are plenty of things to do before a game if you’re wanting to walk around or grab a bite with a brew. Also, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery are housed in the same building across the street, while the Newseum is just a short walk away. Walk a little bit farther and you’re standing on The National Mall.

With John Wall running the show as the main man, Bradley Beal hitting threes from WAY out, and Dwight Howard slamming dunks down, the Wizards are going to be so much fun to watch. They open the season against the Miami Heat on October 18, and two days later they’ll have a huge matchup against the Toronto Raptors. The Oklahoma City Thunder come to town on November 2, and LeBron James brings the Los Angeles Lakers to town on December 16. For the full Wizards schedule, click here
